Creating Tests
Creating a survey
As mentioned before, the difference between a test and a survey is that a survey is processed anonymously, candidates are not awarded points, there are no ‘correct’ or ‘incorrect’ answers, and no feedback can be provided. The steps for creating a survey are briefly described below.
- From the Control Panel, under Course Tools, open the option Tests, Surveys, and Pools.
- Click on Pools and then on Build Pool.
- Draw up questions in the same way as for a test (see Creating a test from Course Management and further).
Here, too, you can either create new questions or select existing ones from a question pool. As mentioned earlier, it is best to work with a question pool, because a pool can be exported.
Note: In surveys, 5- or 7-point scales are often used. For this, you can use a ‘closed’ Multiple Choice question or an ‘open’ Fill in the Blank question. In the latter case, you run the risk of people filling in ‘inappropriate’ answers. If longer answers are required, you may wish to use the Essay question type.
